And I could never go back...

I love pizza.
No, no, you don't understand. I love pizza like robots love pandas.
I occasionally order a pizza as a hobby.
I even order several pizzas in order to have lunch boxes for days, which realistically keeps me for a day, perhaps two if I'm trying my hardest not to consume for dinner too.

I love the Swedish adapt pizza with kebab, pineapple – anything that serves with sauce, cheese on a piece of dough.

I'm not highend in any kind of way, except when it comes to the pizza around the corner in my neighbourhood – that shit is nasty. But I'd say that bad pizza is still pizza.

However, after I visited Lilla Napoli I will never look at pizza the way I used to. I would go as far as to say that I can't order pizza anymore without getting emotional and think back to the pizza I had July 8th 2018, like a the-one-who-got-away-moment or an old lady looking at her partner and think "you'll never be as good as my one love who I lost *insert tragedy*".

The dough was amazeballs. Usually I'll get super stuffed after eating a whole pizza, if I can even finish it. The dough makes my tummy feel like it was invaded by a brick, but this dough at Lilla Napoli was superb. Very light, not too dominant, very fluffy and just great. I can't say anything bad about the dough. the "waitress" informed us that they do their pizza like in Neapoli where they bake it in the stone oven for 60 seconds so the dough is a bit sticky and moist. I just destroyed that shit and couldn't stop eating it. I rolled the pizza slice a bit so I could get the stuffing on the crust and it there were any crust left I just smashed it in their awesome olive oil and some salt.

The sauce was subtle like a supportive friend you take for granted. Not sweet or too tangy.
I had the white pizza with mozzarella, pecorino, garlic, pancetta and basil but I had several slices of the ones with tomato sauce and salami. The white one was really really good, my family liked it the most but I have to say that I really loved the one with salami – it was a bit spicy and the tomato sauce was really bomb. However, I'd never had pancetta before and I will never look at bacon the same way. I love bacon, I love that there are so many different types to fit your mood. Pancetta will definitely be one of my fave, when it's super crispy and thin, almost like a chip or crisp.

The procedure: You go on their website and book how many doughs (pizzas) you want at a preferable date and time. You'll get that and then you should be there 10 minutes before to make your order.

At the place, don't be alarmed. It's not a white tablecloth place with a sommelier. It is a charming wooden box with tables outside and a tent to keep the rain from falling into your food. I loved it!

You walk in, order your pizza, grab some utensils, water and then head to the bar to get another beverage of your choice (wine, beer soda or pop). Then the waitress will come out with your order, saying your name out loud and you'll be in heaven.

Did I tell you that they make their own mozzarella? And they use so kind of magic flower from Italy?

Made in China

Although I don't know how authentic it is despite the painting on their website. We went there on a Monday evening around 6pm and it was pretty chill, but around 7-8pm it was crowded so make reservations. My friend surprised me on my birthday with a visit here. I've wanted to go since I've heard mixed reviews from friends. Some said it was very uneven and the seasoning was off. While another friend said it was delicious. As always when I'm with my friend A we always order family style and we got recomended to order about 6-8 dishes in order to get full. The waitress was very friendly and pushed us towards some dishes she thought were fabulous.

  • RICE CRACKERS WITH SOY MAYONNAISE 40kr
  • SMASHED CUCUMBER WITH CHILI OIL AND SESAME & LIME DRESSING 60kr
  • PORK AND SHRIMP DUMPLINGS WITH CHINESE CHIVES 95kr
  • DEEP FRIED DRUNK CHICKEN WONTON 95kr
  • CRISPY FRIED TOFU WITH CHILI OIL, BEAN SPROUTS, CILANTRO AND GLASS NOODLES 90kr
  • SOFT SHELL CRAB WITH CHILI JAM, SOY MAYONNAISE & DAIKON 130kr
  • CARAMEL PORK WITH GREEN APPLE SALAD, LIME AND MINT 125kr
  • SPICY LAMB SOFT BUNS, PEPPERS, OYSTER SAUCE AND PICKLES 120kr

One of the best things about the restaurant is that it's KRAV which means natural environment, care for animals and social responsibility.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food.
And came back 1 1/2 years later for lunch.
Still good. Awful service.

SUSHI BUSHI

I've been eating sushi all over Gotheburg with the mission to find the best one. I always try to take pictures but somehow I forget to upload and write here. So today I found some pictures of my sushi quest a few years ago. Not sure where I am or if I liked it. Enjoy!

Super Sushi

This isn't the best sushi in Gothenburg. but sometimes I crave it. These huge float boats of rice and fish. Maki the size of your fist. The fish slices are not thick but large. It's not inspired or blows your mind but it's not the worst. Reasonable prize for the size of this meal. 75 SEK for 11 large pieces. Yes, you can choose if you want large or small bites. Who would choose large pieces?! That's right, me. Hell yeah!

Spicy Asian Corn Soup

And I say Asian meaning Asian Fusion. I'm not too fond of the get together of different geographical countries. However, this soups is simply divine. I've been busting my balls to find great vegan comfort food. I'm trying to work up a list of vegan go-to-recipes and I think I found one contestant.

Big pan:

1 onion
a few garlic cloves
a bit of fresh ginger
some spices: curry, cumin, coriander, tumeric, salt & pepper, Chinese chili oil
2 cans of corn
1 can of coconut mil

Fry finely chopped onion, garlic and ginger with some oil, curry, cumin, coriander, turmeric and salt. Add Chinese chili oil. When the onions are glossy and sweet add 2 cans of corn. Later on when cooked nicely add a can of coconut milk. I blended the mix until fairly smooth and then filtered half of it since I wanted 1 batch of smoooooooth soup and 1 rustic one.

So sweet and spicy - just like me!

I'm going to serve it with noodles or some rice. I reckon it's going to taste better tomorrow.
Have fun!

YiLi - Sushi, dumplings and other dishes

So my friend really likes the dumplings here but thinks that there aren't any nice sauces for the dumplings. Anyway, we went here to try it out however I ordered some sushi since I was really in the mood for it. My friend had the Pad Thai and of course my friend who recommended this place had the dumplings.

As you can see, there was time to take a pic of the sushi and it wasn't all that. I've definitely had better. YiLi is a place where I will come back to for the hot food. I loved the Pad Thai and the dumplings. I have to try the entire menu. For me I'd really like to see more Asian restaurants and YiLi seems to have a mix of different Asian dishes. They even had Korean food. So I have to come back and try. I'm also in the hunt for great Chinese food so I hope I will not be disappointed.

Grilled Cheese

Nowadays I follow trends religiously. So I'm eating plant-based which is great. But sometimes I lack inspiration and I really hate cooking sometimes. The easier, quicker - the better. So I made this grilled cheese for lunch. I used 2 different kinds of vegan cheese from Astrid och Aporna, Cheezly with cheddar flavour and Jeezly Perfek Pizza. I also added some black pepper for taste and after I fried it in the pan, I halved a garlic clove and rubbed it against the bread. It was so yummy! This will be my go-to food from now on.
